Rudd wins again; Duncan in the top-20 at Seminole Valley Stampede

Nolan Rudd won his second consecutive meet while Emma Duncan raced her way to another top-20 finish as the St. Ambrose cross country teams took on the Seminole Valley Stampede this weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Transfer senior Rudd continued his dominant season with another individual win, legging out Grand View's Trevor Albert down the stretch to notch a 25:15, his best time of the season. Rudd's new personal best has also reset the second-fastest time in St. Ambrose school history, which he set two weeks prior at the Grand View Invitational (25:17).

Not far behind was Matt Jung, running his first sub-26 of the season to finish in fifth (25:55). Goerge Barton cruised to a top-15 finish, placing 14th with a time of 26:47. Luke Benes (27:11) and Lucas Creek (27:47) rounded out the scoring for the Fighting Bees with 23rd and 34th-place finishes, respectively.

The St. Ambrose pack run was again on display, with four Bees finishing within 11 seconds of each other. Kale Cartee crossed the finish line with a time of 28:41 to finish in 53rd, with Chris Borscnack three seconds behind in 58th (28:44). Dayton Hauger finished in 63rd (28:47) while Tommy Ashby finished right after in 64th (28:52). Also running for St. Ambrose were Noah Maske (29:38), Danny Parr (30:40), and Bryan Flentge (30:49).

The St. Ambrose men tallied 73 points to net a runner-up finish at the Seminole Valley Stampede, finishing second to meet champion Grand View with 43 points.

In the women's 5k race, Duncan cruised to a 19th-place finish with a time of 20:10. Jess Mendenhall put forth a great effort in her first race since the Fighting Bee Invite on Sept. 11, running a 21:08 to finish in 41st. Finishing out the scoring for the women's team was Kylie Mercier in 68th place (22:21), Julia Beltz in 85th place (23:02) and Morgan Miller in 90th (23:31).

Also competing for the Fighting Bees were Rileigh Fortune (24:44), Becca Neaterour (25:15) and Jayne Eilderts (27:44).

St. Ambrose finished with 241 points to take ninth-place in the 14-team event. Missouri Baptist won the meet with a score of 52 points.

The St. Ambrose cross country teams will take on their final regular season meet when they travel to Yankton, S.D. to compete in the Mount Marty Invite on Oct. 23.
