Grafton named NAIA Third Team All-American

NAIA Women's Volleyball All-American Team

A season for the record books added one final chapter Monday. Mackenzie Grafton became the first St. Ambrose women's volleyball All-American in 23 years when she was named to the third team. Deana Schmidt was the last Bee to be named to one of the three teams when she earned third-team recognition in 2000.

The All-American honor is just the latest award for Grafton.

The senior outside hitter from Orion, Ill., was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Mideast Region Player of the Year, becoming the first Bee to earn that honor since Amanda Ziegeweid did in 1999. Grafton was also the first-ever Bee to be named the CCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year.

Grafton finished with a conference-leading 522 kills, the second-most recorded by a Bee in a single season dating back to 2000. She put down double-digit kills in 29 matches and posted 18 kill-dig double-doubles. Grafton hit .205 this season and recorded 363 digs, 39 total blocks and 38 aces.

She finished her career with 1,087 career kills, 11th on SAU's all-time list. She also totaled 772 digs, 114 aces and 116 blocks.
