Kavalauskas named CCAC Attacker of the Week

CHICAGO --- Guiding their respective teams to three victories each during the week of Sept. 26, St. Ambrose University's Jill Kavalauskas (Chicago, Ill.) and Indiana University South Bend's Suriya Van der Oord (Norton Shores, Mich.) and McKenzie Powell (Rolling Prairie, Ind.) have been recognized for their performances with Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday.

Kavalauskas hit nearly .400 on the week to gain CCAC Attacker of the Week honors. She finished at .392, while averaging 4.4 kills and 3.0 digs per set. She also recorded three aces and three blocks among her nine sets played.

The senior outside hitter just missed going 3-for-3 on double-figure kill efforts over the seven-day period. She opened with a double-double of 19 kills and 11 digs in a four-set win over Judson University on Tuesday. Next up was a 12-kill, 7-dig performance against Cardinal Stritch University in a straight-set victory on Saturday. That same day, she put up nine kills and nine digs in just two sets to defeat Iowa Wesleyan College.

Kavalauskas' name appears among the best in the conference with her 3.92 kills-per-set average placing her third and her .248 attack percentage ranking fifth.

The three wins kept the Fighting Bees in the thick of the conference race at 6-1 in league matches and 14-4 overall.
