SAU gets victory over Lincoln College

Jill Kavalauskas had 21 kills and Meredith Siebers added 14 to help St. Ambrose defeat Lincoln College 25-15, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17 Tuesday night inside Lee Lohman Arena.

Kavalauskas had just three hitting errors and Siebers had four. They were backed up by Rachael Dion, who finished with nine kills and just two errors.

As a team, St. Ambrose recorded 53 kills and finished with a .263 hitting percentage. Lincoln hit at a .097 clip.

The Bees (13-7, 8-5 CCAC) weren't severely tested in the opening set. Siebers had three early kills and Kavalauskas had two helping SAU to an early 10-4 lead. Kills from Payton Wendt and Kavaluaskas came as part of a four-point run that opened up a 15-5 lead, and the Bees cruised through the first set from there.

Lincoln (12-15, 4-10 CCAC) built a 21-15 lead in the second. St. Ambrose rallied to draw even at 23-23 on a Siebers kill before Lincoln ultimately earned the 25-23 win.

That would be it for the Lynx. The Bees would outscore them 15-8 to close out the third set and 14-6 to end the fourth in snapping a two-match losing streak.

Wendt recorded four kills and Megan Mitchell and Amber Tomlin each had two.

Tomlin led all players with 42 assists while adding 15 digs. Maicee Pierce paced the Bees with 19 digs. Kavaluaksas had 15 and Siebers added 12.

SAU will next visit Governors State Thursday.
