Butler, Miller sweep CCAC Athlete of the Week honors

CHICAGO --- A busy weekend featuring many NAIA "A" standard performances for Gabbi Butler (Belleville, Wis.) and Annah Miller (Manito, Ill.) have enabled the St. Ambrose University pair to sweep Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending April 14, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Butler earned her "A" marks in the 200- and 400-meter events with record-setting performances to garner CCAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction. Her time of 54.33 seconds in the 400-meter dash at the Drake University Jim Duncan Invitational on Friday not only established a new school record, but also was the second-fastest time in the NAIA this year.

One day later at the Mount Mercy University Distance Carnival & Open, the senior set both a school and facility record with her 24.33-second finish in the 200-meter dash.

Miller claimed her second straight CCAC Field Athlete of the Week award after posting "A" marks at back-to-back meets in the shot put and discus events over the weekend. She also established a new school mark with her 47-foot, 3.5-inch shot put throw at the Duncan Invitational on Friday. That is the fifth-longest throw in the NAIA this year.

The senior went on to record a runner-up finish in the discus event on Saturday at the Mustang Distance Carnival & Open with her throw covering 146 feet, 11 inches.
