Reemtsma, Butler earn all-American status at NAIA Indoor Championships

St. Ambrose wrapped up indoor season by crowning a pair of All-Americans and setting several school records at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Brookings, S.D.

Will Reemtsma finished third in the men's 600-meter run Saturday, coming in with a school-record time of 1:17.32. He qualified third in Friday's prelims in 1:19.80.

Gabbi Butler is an All-American on the women's side. She finished fourth in Saturday's 400-meter dash finals in 54.09 seconds. It marked the first sub-55 second 400-meter run in program history. She had previously set the school record in Friday's prelims, finishing fourth in 55.02 seconds.

Butler also reset her own school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.07 seconds in Friday's prelims. That placed 16th overall.

Two other school records were set at the NAIA Championships.

Thursday, Chris Miserendino, Tommy Ashby, Dylan Grandon and Trae Corby broke the school mark in the men's 4x800-meter relay. They finished 11th in 7:47.60. Friday, Nik Norton broke Michael Ohioze's school record in the men's 200-meter dash. Norton's time of 21.83 seconds took .01 off the mark set in 2017 and was good for 24th.

The large Bee contingent put up several other strong performances.

Annah Miller took 11th in the women's shot put with a top throw of 13.56 meters. The 4x400-meter relay team of Lexie Johnson, Aniecia Goss, Sarah Jordan and Megan Becker placed 20th in 4:08.32. Also on the women's side, Ryleigh Warden took 24th in the pole vault with a best effort of 3.37 meters.

For the men, Jonah Wilson and Alec Seifert finished 10th and 13th, respectively, in the shot put. Wilson posted a distance of 16.31 meters and Seifert was close behind with a mark of 16.20 meters. St. Ambrose also had two qualifiers in the 1000-meter run. Miserendino finished 12th in 2:29.01 and Corby was 19th in 2:35.29. Jackson Baedke, Alex Fuller, JaQuarion Lewis and Willie Padonou combined to take 23rd in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:28.45. Joshua Mottet also competed for SAU in the pole vault.

The Bees will now turn their focus to the outdoor season which is slated to begin at the Battle of the Bridge in Rock Island, Ill., on Apr. 6.
