Miller, Rudd, Saloninas named CCAC Athletes of the Week

CHICAGO --- NAIA "A" standard marks recorded by Annah Miller (Manito, Ill.), Nolan Rudd (Greendale, Wis.) and Mick Saloninas (Downers Grove, Ill.) enabled St. Ambrose University to claim three of the final Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for 2023, the league office announced on Thursday.

Miller gained CCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week recognition for the fourth time in 2023 after again hitting the "A" standard in both the shot put and discus events at the Drake Relays on Saturday. The junior rang up a throw of 146 feet, 6 inches in the discus event and threw for 44 feet, 11.5 inches in the shot put.

For Rudd, the CCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor was his first of the campaign. The graduate student claimed the recognition by registering a school-record time of 9:18.68 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Simpson College Kip Janvrin Open on Friday. The mark was also the best effort by a league performer and the seventh-best time in the NAIA this spring.

Saloninas, meanwhile, also picked up his fourth CCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week award after registering an "A" standard distance of 53 feet in the shot put at the Drake Relays on Saturday. The senior also recorded a throw of 154 feet in the discus event.

All three Bees head to Joliet, Ill. this weekend to take part in the CCAC Championships.
