SAU competes at Drake Relays, Kip Janvrin Open

St. Ambrose sent a large contingent to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Annah Miller continued her strong spring by placing 12th in the shot put with a throw of 13.70 meters and getting 14th in the discus with a mark of 44.65 meters. Gabbi Butler hit the NAIA Championship A standard with a PR in the 400-meter dash. Her time of 56.58 seconds was the best in her heat. She finished 13th overall. Ryleigh Warden took 19th in both the pole vault (3.22 meters) and the javelin (27.59 meters).

The Bee women also had two relays compete at Drake. Lexie Johnson, Paige Crippes, Katie Lambrecht and Megan Jansett were ninth in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay in 4:13.94. And Johnson, Crippes, Lambrecht and Butler took 20th in the 4x200-meter relay in 1:44.71.

Will Reemtsma led the SAU men. He took third in the 400-meter hurdles in 51.64 seconds. Joshua Mottet placed 13th in the pole vault with a leap of 4.26 meters. Simon Holland was 15th in the javelin with a throw of 40.56 meters. Mick Saloninas was 16th in the shot put (16.15 meters) and 17th in the discus (46.93 meters). Jonah Wilson's shot put of 15.75 meters was good for 20th place.

Another group of Bees competed at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa.

Nolan Rudd had the highlight performance. He set a school record and hit the A standard in the 3000-meter steeplechase. His time was 9:18.68, good for 12th place.

St. Ambrose received numerous top-10 efforts.

Johnson earned fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.25 meters. Lily Olsen was 10th in the event with a jump of 4.77 meters. At 5.28 meters, Anthony Bianchi was ninth in the men's long jump.

The Bees also found success in the pole vault. Kate Surwillo (3.20 meters) and Justin Bowers (4.15 meters) placed fifth for the women and men, respectively. Tara Ryan was ninth at 2.60 meters and on the men's side, Isaac Mojica and Jacob Mertes tied for 10th with a mark of 3.70 meters.

Alec Seifert was sixth in the shot put with a distance of 14.97 meters. Kyle Uhl was ninth at 14.22 meters. Payton Woods took sixth in the hammer throw at 50.01 meters while Kaden Swanger was 10th at 47.71 meters. In the men's discus, Bryce Peacher took seventh with a throw of 42.25 meters. Hunter Kasap was 10th with a toss of 40.52 meters.

Lambrecht added a sixth-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.23. Johnson, Crippes, Lambrecht and Butler were fifth in the 4x100-meter relay in 48.87 seconds.

SAU will next compete in the CCAC Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday in Joliet, Ill.
