Miller, Saloninas named CCAC Field Athletes of the Championships

Annah Miller and Mick Saloninas were named the Field Athletes of the CCAC Championships Saturday. The two Bees each won the shot put at the conference championships hosted by St. Ambrose in the WRC.

Miller set a new women's conference championship event record with her winning throw of 14.36 meters (47-1.5). It broke the previous record of 14.22 meters set in 2019. Miller's new PR is the top mark in the CCAC and the fifth-best in the NAIA. She also placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 15.40 meters (50-6.25).

Saloninas won the men's shot put with a throw of 16.95 meters (55-7.5). It was just off his season-best effort of 17.01 meters set at the Frigid Bee Invitational on Dec. 3, which remains the top throw in the conference and places him fifth in the NAIA. Saloninas led a St. Ambrose sweep of the top three finishers in the shot put at the CCAC Championships. Jonah Wilson was second at 16.43 meters and Alec Seifert was third with a throw of 16.07 meters. Kyle Uhl was fifth.
