More records fall at Bearcat Invite

Hitting the road for the first time this indoor season, St. Ambrose continued to break records and hit national-qualifying standards. This time it came at the Bearcat Open hosted by Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo., Thursday-Saturday.

Will Reemtsma and Nolan Rudd were each involved in two new school records. Reemtsma improved his A standard in the 600-yard run, winning the event in 1:11.78. Rudd set a school record in the 3000-meter run, placing sixth out of nearly 50 runners in 8:34.59. That hit the B standard.

The two Bees were also part of a school-record distance medley relay performance. Luke Benes, Reemtsma, Kale Cartee and Rudd combined to hit the A standard with a sixth-place time of 10:14.82.

Reemtsma also hit the B standard in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, taking sixth in 8.38 seconds. He added a season-best time of 48.43 seconds to place third in the 400-meter dash.

Yemi Ward broke the St. Ambrose record in the 60-meter dash. His time of 6.97 seconds broke Michael Ohioze and Andrew Olenek's previous record of 7.00 set in 2017 and 2020, respectively.

Jonah Wilson hit another A-standard throw in the shot put. His effort of 16.13 meters was good for third place. Mick Saloninas was fourth with a throw of 16.10 meters. Payton Woods took eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.30 meters. Hunter Kasap was 13th. Josh Mottet finished seventh in the pole vault with a jump of 4.30 meters.

For the women, Ryleigh Warden set a school record in the pole vault. Her vault of 3.38 meters hit the A standard. She took second in the event while teammate Kate Surwillo finished third with a jump of 3.23 meters.

Annah Miller hit the A standard again in the shot put, setting a PR with a throw of 13.61 meters, good for third place.

Gabbi Butler achieved the B standard for the second time in the 400-meter dash, coming in with a time of 58.50 seconds. She also helped improve the 4x400-meter relay's B standard. Megan Jansett, Megan Becker, Katie Lambrecht and Butler took seventh in 3:58.13.

Jansett hit season-best times in the 600-yard run (1:28.08) to place eighth and in the 800-meter run (2:25.44). Lexie Johnson ran the 200-meter dash in 26.24 seconds and took sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.30 meters. Alexis Andersen added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with an effort of 10.96 meters.

The Bees will host the SAU Tune Up Friday in the WRC before hosting the CCAC Indoor Championships Feb. 17-18.
