Bees hit more national-qualifying marks at Bumble Rumble

The Bees punched more tickets to nationals at their Bumble Rumble Saturday in the WRC. Will Reemtsma and Annah Miller both hit the A standard while Lexie Johnson met the B standard.

Reemtsma, who had already qualified in both the 400-meter dash and 600-meter run, hit the A standard in the 200-meter dash Saturday. His winning time of 22.16 seconds converts to a qualifying mark of 21.77 seconds. That ranks him second in the CCAC and 12th in the NAIA.

Miller qualified in the shot put. Her winning throw of 13.57 meters was a PR and the top throw in the CCAC this season. She is ranked 10th in the NAIA.

Johnson jumped 5.50 meters to win the long jump and post the top mark in the conference while reaching the B standard.

It was a strong day overall for the Bees.

Megan Jansett set a PR with a winning time of 2:26.74 in the 800-meter run. She is the top-ranked runner in the conference in both the 600 and 800 events. Kyleigh Foster placed fourth in the 800.

Paige Crippes and Katie Lambrecht finished second and third in the 60-meter dash. The Bees actually took spots 2-6 with Johnson, Megan Becker and Jadie Knecht rounding out the top six. Lambrecht and Crippes reversed finishes, coming in second and third, respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Becker and Knecht took fourth and fifth.

Ryleigh Warden was runner-up in the pole vault with Kate Surwillo placing fourth. Alexis Andersen was second in the triple jump with Lily Olsen taking fourth. Gabbi Butler added a fourth-place effort in the high jump.

Becker, Jansett, Knecht and Lambrecht won the 4x400-meter relay in 4:08.22. Adeline Smith, Rylee McCrery, Allison Hein and Anna Pierce were fourth.

Back on the men's side, Mick Saloninas won the shot put with a throw of 16.46 meters. He has already qualified for nationals with the fifth-best mark in the country. Jonah Wilson, who hit the A standard earlier this season, and Alec Seifert, who has the B standard, finished second and third to Saloninas. Bryce Peacher took fifth and Kyle Uhl sixth.

Joe Vollmer was runner-up in both the long jump and triple jump. Isaac Mojica placed fourth in the high jump.

Nolan Rudd won the mile race in a time of 4:20.35. Kale Cartee was third, Luke Benes fourth and Chris Miserendino fifth. St. Ambrose took third, fourth, fifth in the 60-meter dash with Yemi Ward, Austin Kalar and Reemtsma finishing in that order. Ben Wilson was second in the 60-meter hurdles and placed third behind Reemtsma in the 200. Matt Acosta and Kevin Chaney were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800-meter run.

Acosta, Maxwell Stoos, Nathan Boleyn and Dominic Neely were third in the 4x400-meter relay. Miserendino, Benes, Chaney and Ross Willerth took fourth.

SAU will host the Fighting Bee Invite Friday and Saturday.
