Bees return to competition schedule by hosting Battle in the Hive

Competing for the first time in more than a month, St. Ambrose hosted the Battle in the Hive in the WRC Saturday. SAU finished second to Loras in both the men's and women's competition.

Five different Bees won events on the women's side. Gabbi Butler helped St. Ambrose take the top three spots in the 400-meter dash. She won in 1:00.84 while Megan Becker was second in 1:02.28 and Jadie Knecht placed third in 1:06.24. SAU also took 1-2-3 in the pole vault with Ryleigh Warden winning with a jump of 3.20 meters. Kate Surwillo (3.05m) was second and Tara Ryan (2.60m) finished third.

Kyleigh Foster won the 1000-meter run in 3:23.66. Adeline Smith was fifth. Annah Miller, who hit the B standard earlier this season, won the shot put with a throw of 13.35 meters. Lexie Johnson was the champion in the long jump with a distance of 5.35 meters. Johnson was also the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 26.56 seconds. Paige Crippes took fifth.

Megan Jansett set a PR in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:39.79, good for third place. Anna Pierce was sixth. Alexis Anderson earned a pair of top-eight finishes. She was fifth in the triple jump (10.63 meters) and eighth in the high jump (1.40 meters).

Jayne Eilderts (2:50.17) and Loryn Heil placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Paige Crippes was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 8.27 seconds. Butler took eighth in 8.32 seconds. Anna Dunne placed eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 10.97 meters.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Jansett, Katie Lambrecht, Becker and Butler was third in 4:14.00.

Nolan Rudd was the lone winner for St. Ambrose on the men's side. He led five Bees inside the top eight of the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:45.20. Luke Benes was third in 9:10.27, Kale Cartee was fourth, Ian Eller fifth and Noah Maske eighth.

Ben Wilson was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 22.88 seconds. Nik Norton placed eighth.

Joshua Mottet's jump of 4.11 meters was good for second in the pole vault. Justin Bowers ended sixth. David Arney earned silver in the triple jump with an effort of 12.28 meters. Joe Vollmer, who was also sixth in the long jump, was fifth in the triple jump. Jonah Wilson had the team's final runner-up performance. He was second in the shot put with a throw of 16.03 meters, ahead of teammates Alec Seifert (fourth) and Kyle Uhl (fifth).

Will Reemtsma, the conference-leader in the 600-meter run, was third in the event in a time of 1:21.95. Bryan Flentge was fourth in the mile run, while Kevin Chaney took sixth and Jon Kaleka seventh. In the 800-meter run, Chris Miserendino finished seventh.

Payton Woods took third in the weight throw with a toss of 16.28 meters. Hunter Kasap was seventh. Isaac Mojica added a seventh-place showing in the high jump for SAU.

The Bees will host the Bumble Rumble next Saturday in the WRC.
