Reemtsma wins national championship, men place 15th at outdoor nationals

Two place-finishes, a national runner-up, and a national champion highlighted St. Ambrose's weekend at the 2022 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

After placing third in the 400m hurdles at nationals a year ago, Will Reemtsma captured his first-ever national championship this time around. Reemtsma blitzed out a time of 50.74, knocking an entire second off of his time from last season's finals (51.84) to win the gold.

Reemtsma's win in the 400m hurdles is the second national championship in two years for the Fighting Bees, with Josh Mathis taking down the national title in the discus throw in 2021.

Mick Saloninas blasted out a 17.26m throw to finish as the runner-up in the shot put, second only to Midland's Dylan Kucera (18.16). After eclipsing 17 meters on his second attempt, Saloninas hit his best mark of the day on his fifth attempt to collect the silver medal.

Annah Miller finished her spectacular sophomore season as an All-American, placing eighth in the discus throw with a 43.39m mark in her first ever appearance at nationals. Miller hit her top throw on her third attempt to earn her spot on the podium.

Nolan Rudd was the final All-American for the Bees, placing eighth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:20.90. Rudd improved on his prelim by over 11 seconds to become an All-American.

Between the three All-American finishes from Reemtsma, Saloninas, and Rudd, the Fighting Bee men hauled in 19 total points to place 15th of 77 teams competing in Gulf Shores, Ala.
