Updates from the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

The NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are underway in Gulf Shores, Ala. and the Fighting Bees are competing in multiple events across the three-day event.

Friday recap:

Nolan Rudd got things started with an All-American performance. He used a strong finish to climb into eighth place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:20.90.

And, believe it or not, things only got better from there.

Annah Miller matched Rudd with an eighth-place finish as her All-American throw of 43.39 meters in the discus earned a point for the SAU women's team.

Mick Saloninas is the national runner-up in the shot put. His effort of 17.26 meters was good for second place. Jonah Wilson was 15th with a mark of 16.17 meters and Alec Seifert was 31st with a throw of 14.38 meters.

To cap the championships, Will Reemtsma won a National Championship. His time of 50.74 seconds in the 400m hurdles was a tenth of a second better than the second-place finisher.

The final day allowed the St. Ambrose men to climb into 15th place with 19 total points at the championships. The women were 63rd.

Thursday recap:

In pouring rain, Nolan Rudd advanced to Friday's finals of the 3000m steeplechase. His time of 9:31.26 was 11th best in qualifying.

In her first of two events of the championships, Annah Miller took 21st in the shot put with a throw of 12.69 meters. She will compete in the discus Friday.

Mick Saloninas is also halfway done with his championships. He placed 19th in the discus with a distance of 45.97 meters. Saloninas, Alec Seifert and Jonah Wilson will all compete in the shot put Friday.

The day ended with Ben Wilson, Will Reynolds, Cody Thole and Will Reemtsma competing in the 4x400m relay. The Bees took 11th in 3:16.07.

Wednesday recap:

The first event of the day for the Fighting Bees was the men's 4x100m relay. The quartet of Will Reynolds, Brentin Erickson, Marquan Quinn, and Andrew Olenek finished 37th with a time of 42.98.

Will Reemtsma, Ben Wilson, and Cody Thole all competed in the 400m hurdles. Reemtsma won his heat with a time of 52.88 to advance to the finals. Wilson and Thole missed out on the finals with a time of 55.95 and 54.46, respectively.
