Three Bees earn All-American status on final day of Nationals

Gulf Shores, Ala. - The final day of the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Nationals saw three Bees earn All-American honors. After earning a national title in the discus, Josh Mathis followed it up with a fourth-place performance in the shot put on Friday. Will Reemtsma finished third in the 400-meter hurdles, and Jack Reemtsma placed seventh in the same event at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium. 

Mathis had a throw of 17.59 meters to earn a fourth-place finish for SAU. His throw set a new school record beating his previous mark of 17.30m that was set at the Augustana Twilight meet. Grant Taylor of Indiana University-Kokomo was first in the competition with a throw of 18.74 meters. Mathis' performance gave the Bees five points in the team standings. His 15 total points for the meet is a team record.

Mick Saloninas also participated in the shot put for St. Ambrose during the final day. 

Annah Miller competed in the women's discus throw for the Bees. Miller had a consistent outing, making throws of 39.02m, 39.39m, and 40.19m. She finished in 21st place. 

Will Reemtsma broke a school record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 51.84 to take third. Jack Reemtsma became a four-time All-American by placing seventh in the event with a time of 53.29. The brothers earned St. Ambrose eight points toward the team competition. 

With 23 points, the SAU men's track and field team finished 12th in the nation. Doane and Madonna tied for the team title with 44 points each. The women of Indiana Tech took first with 84 points.
