Reemtsma, Saloninas and DeShane named Athletes of the Week

CHICAGO --- St. Ambrose University's Mick Saloninas (Downers Grove, Ill.) is back as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second seven-day period in a row and is joined this time by teammates Will Reemtsma (Davenport, Iowa) as the CCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Alissa DeShane as the CCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.

Saloninas made his mark in the shot put again, where he placed third overall and first among collegiate participants at the Bees' own Opener on Friday. The sophomore registered a throw of 49 feet, 11.75 inches.

Reemtsma, also a sophomore, claimed a pair of individual titles, winning both the 400-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. He ran a time of 50.42 seconds in the 400 event to outperform six other competitors and was first among four in the hurdles, finishing in 9.08 seconds.

Both times are the top marks in the conference this year with the 400-meter effort also ranking 12th-best in the nation.

The efforts of both Saloninas and Reemtsma allowed St. Ambrose to capture the meet title.

DeShane, meanwhile, captured the pole vault title at the same meet to garner CCAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades. The senior's height was 10 feet, 1.25 inches, which topped three other competitors. She also helped St. Ambrose win the five-team event.
