Jim Kiss named SAU Women's Tennis Coach

St. Ambrose University Director of Athletics Mike Holmes announced today Jim Kiss has been named the University's women's tennis coach. He also coaches the SAU men's tennis program after being named to that position in January 2022.

In his first full season at the helm of the men in 2022-23, Kiss guided the Bees to 10 victories, the most for the program since the 2014-15 campaign. The program had won only eight duals over the previous four seasons combined.

"I am extremely grateful to (St. Ambrose President) Dr. Amy Novak and Mr. Holmes for presenting me with this opportunity to continue to lead and serve our student-athletes. St. Ambrose University has a rich history in tennis dating back to the 1970s. While the men have made significant strides to be more competitive over the past year, we hope to do the same with the women following a similar blueprint. I am very anxious to get practice started next month."

Kiss has been a part of the St. Ambrose Athletic Department since 2008-09, working as an assistant men's basketball coach. He was named the program's Associate Head Coach prior to the 2010-11 season. He is involved in recruiting, scouting, academic success, player development, scheduling and on-floor coaching. Along with competing at the top of the highly-competitive CCAC, the Bees have also succeeded in the classroom, earning NAIA Scholar-Team status in 14 of the 15 years Kiss has been on staff.

Kiss was a four-year basketball player at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He graduated in the spring of 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. He earned his Masters of Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose in May 2010. He oversaw all of the athletic department's NAIA compliance efforts from 2010-21, and most recently served the University as an Application Support Specialist.

He currently resides in Bettendorf, Iowa, with his wife Anne and their daughter McKinleigh Jean.
