Bees fall to Coe and Cornell

St. Ambrose hit the road for a pair of non-conference duals Saturday. The Bees lost to Coe 8-1 and fell to Cornell 7-2.

SAU's lone win at Coe was Kaylee Camp's 7-6, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Megan McConnaughay dropped a heartbreaker, falling 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 11-9 at No. 5. Paige Bily fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

The Bees were competitive in doubles play. The No. 1 team of Kaylee Camp and Maggie Sullivan lost 8-6, the No. 2 team of Bily and Julia Turek fell 8-4 and McConnaughay and Alison Hanson lost 8-3 at No. 3.

Turek won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles at Cornell. McConnaughay lost her second third-set super-tiebreaker of the day, falling 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 at No. 4. Audrey Pender won six games in her 6-4, 6-2 loss at No. 6.

Camp and Sullivan earned an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Turek and Bily lost by the same score at No. 2. McConnaughay and Hayley Hoffman dropped an 8-2 decision at No. 3.

The Bees, now 5-13, will visit Augustana Thursday.
