The St. Ambrose men moved to 2-0 on the year after defeating Loras 4-3 Monday afternoon at Davenport West High School. The women fell to the Duhakws 6-1.

The Bee men won their home opener on the strength of their doubles play. SAU won two of the three doubles matches to take the point, then split the six singles matches to get the win.

Paulo Vitor and Brian Lelm teamed for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and Gianfranco Garcia and Bennet Piotrowski won 6-4 at No. 2. Greyson Piotrowski and Connor Leibforth fell 7-5 in their match at No. 3 doubles.

Vitor, Lelm and Bennet Piotrowski then each won a singles match in straight sets. Vitor won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 while Lelm earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2. Piotrowski had the toughest match, escaping with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4.

The St. Ambrose women won just two matches in their loss to Loras.

Kaylee Camp was involved in both wins. She first teamed with Maggie Sullivan for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Camp then survived a third-set super-tiebreaker in her 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 win at No. 3 singles.

SAU is now 2-1 on the season.

St. Ambrose will head to Waverly, Iowa, Saturday for duals vs. Wartburg and Grand View.
