Doubles provides decisive point in loss to Bulldogs

A pair of 6-4 losses in doubles proved to be the difference as St. Ambrose fell to Truman State 4-3 Friday afternoon at the Quad-City Tennis Club in Moline, Ill.

The Bees were able to win just one of the three doubles matches - a 6-4 victory for Lily Malas and Alison Hanson at No. 3. The No. 1 team of Kiersten Housenga and Maggie Sullivan and the No. 2 team of Kaylee Camp and Kelsey Jaeger both dropped 6-4 decisions to give the Bulldogs the doubles point.

Splitting the six singles matches left SAU a point short.

Jaeger rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 and Paige Bily came through with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6. In the match of the day, Sullivan earned a 6-2, 4-6, 11-9 win at No. 3 singles for the Bees.

St. Ambrose, now 2-3 in the fall, will next visit Loras on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
