Kuchar's goal lifts SAU past Trolls

An early second-half goal from Grace Kuchar gave St. Ambrose women's soccer a 1-0 victory over RV Trinity Christian Saturday afternoon in Palos Heights, Ill. With the win, SAU moved to the top of the CCAC standings with three conference games remaining.

After a scoreless first half, Kuchar found the winner early on in the second. Kuchar scored in the 52nd minute to put the Bees up 1-0. Rachel Willette stepped up in the 54th and 55th minutes, turning away Troll attempts to keep SAU in the lead. Abigail Goff and Kaitlyn Brunson had shots on goal for St. Ambrose, but both attempts were saved. Trinity Christian's final chance came in the 76th minute, but the shot went wide, and the SAU defense held on from there to secure the 1-0 win.

St. Ambrose had 16 shots in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net on any of those opportunities. Willette made two saves in the first half and finished with five total in the victory. Brunson recorded eight shots, followed by Taylor DeSplinter with five. Kuchar, Goff, Mary Evans, and Kendall Wendt had two apiece.

The Bees will look to stay atop the conference standings when they face St. Francis (Ill.) on Tuesday, October 17 at 6 p.m. in Davenport.
