SAU rolls over Saints on Senior Day

St. Ambrose women's soccer honored Mary Evans, Grace Kuchar, Adriane Latham, and Rachel Willette Saturday afternoon in Davenport for Senior Day. The Bees rolled to an 11-0 victory over Holy Cross at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

SAU (7-4, 5-1 CCAC) got on the board early with a goal from Kaitlyn Brunson in the 6th minute. St. Ambrose doubled their lead in the 34th minute when Daniya El-Zein scored her first goal as a Fighting Bee and took the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

The offense got rolling in the second half, netting nine goals in the period. Brunson scored in the 48th minute off a feed from Taylor DeSplinter to make it 3-0. St. Ambrose then scored four goals in eight minutes. Brunson found Kendall Wendt for a goal in the 52nd minute, then a minute later, Abigail Goff found Wendt for a 5-0 lead. Brunson scored her third of the game in the 55th minute on a McKenna Shilevinatz pass, and DeSplinter headed the ball in the back of the net (from Kuchar) in the 60th minute to make it a seven-goal advantage. Maria Luiza Coelho got on the scoresheet for SAU in the 71st for an 8-0 lead off a pass from Mia Hefner. Haillee Wilson's corner kick in the 77th minute found the head of Genevieve Bowyer for another Bee goal, and a minute later, Jenna Horst found Lauren Bendall to make it 10-0. Evans finished off the match with a header in the 89th minute from a Wilson corner kick to account for the final.

St. Ambrose allowed just one shot on goal, which Willette netted the save. The Bees finished with a 17-1 advantage in shots, and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
