SAU shuts out Indiana South Bend for conference win

St. Ambrose women's soccer scored three goals in each half and allowed just one shot in a dominating 6-0 win over Indiana South Bend Saturday morning in Lakeville, Ind. to earn a CCAC victory.

The Bees got off to a quick start, with Kendall Wendt finding the back of the net in the third minute for an early 1-0 lead. In the tenth minute, Taylor DeSplinter found Kaitlyn Brunson for the score and a 2-0 lead. McKenna Shilevinatz and Brunson put shots on the net, but both were turned away by the Titan keeper. St. Ambrose would get their final goal of the first half in the 19th minute. DeSplinter found Jenna Horst this time for the SAU goal and a 3-0 advantage. The visitors continued to pepper the IU-SB defense with Shilevinatz, DeSplinter, Lauren Bendall, Haillee Wilson, Isabella Crawford, Brunson, and Mia Hefner recording shot attempts before halftime.

Brunson would give St. Ambrose a 4-0 lead with her second goal of the night in the 52nd minute. Hefner got on the scoresheet in the 66th minute, and Bendall made it 6-0 SAU in the 77th for the final score. The Bees outshot the Titans 35-1 and had an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. Rachel Willette was credited with a save in the win.

SAU will continue conference play on Tuesday, September 19th. The Bees will travel to Bourbonnais, Ill. to face No. 19 Olivet Nazarene at 7 p.m.
