Brunson nets winner against Grand View

Kaitlyn Brunson scored her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute to push St. Ambrose past Grand View Wednesday night in Des Moines. The 1-0 victory over the Vikings gives the Bees their first win of 2023.

Taylor DeSplinter and Kendall Wendt recorded shots for SAU to begin the game, but both attempts went wide left. Two shots from DeSplinter followed with one forcing the Grand View keeper into a save. St. Ambrose found the breakthrough in the 23rd minute off Brunson's score. SAU would hold on from there, allowing just two shots the entire game and none on target.

DeSplinter finished with four shots, and Wendt had two. Brunson, Jenna Horst, and Daniya El-Zein had the other SAU shot attempts. Rachel Willette played all 90 minutes in net, and Mary Evans and Adriane Latham also went the full 90.

St. Ambrose will take on Culver-Stockton next on Saturday, September 9th in Muscatine, Iowa at 8 p.m. as part of the Haag Memorial Game.
