Bees win big against Jaguars

In their regular-season home finale, St. Ambrose dominated from start to finish. The Bees outshot the Governors State Jaguars 35-2 on their way to a 6-0 victory Wednesday night in Davenport. With the win, SAU remains in third place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with a 9-1-2 conference record.

The Bees were on the attack early as Alyssa Schichner, Grace Kuchar, and Taylor DeSplinter each recorded shot attempts in the first four minutes. In the 9th minute, DeSplinter used her speed to get around the GSU backline and placed a shot into the left corner to give St. Ambrose a 1-0 lead. DeSplinter would add to the SAU lead in the 20th minute on a header from Kaitlyn Brunson's corner kick. The goal was DeSplinter's team leading 14th of the season. The Bees would take a 3-0 lead in the 25th minute when Schichner's left footed shot found the back of the net. Just over a minute later, Natalie Miller would net her first goal of the year off an assist from Abigail Goff to make it 4-0, and St. Ambrose would take that lead into halftime.

SAU continued the attack in the second half, recording 15 shots in the period. Rachel Willette made her only save of the night in the 54th minute. Kendall Wendt scored the final goal of the night in the 87th minute to account for the 5-0 final.
