Brunson scores brace in win over Judson

Kaitlyn Brunson scored a brace, and the St. Ambrose defense recorded its second straight shutout as the Bees took a 4-0 victory over Judson at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The teams traded shots to begin the match with Judson's Alondra Blanco almost putting the Eagles (7-5-1, 5-3-1 CCAC) ahead in the 13th minute, but her shot hit off the crossbar. St. Ambrose (8-2-3, 7-0-2 CCAC) got a chance in the 16th minute when Grace Kuchar forced a save. In the 27th minute, Kuchar had an opportunity again, but that attempt was turned away. The Bees found the first score with two seconds left in the first half. A Brunson corner kick created a scramble in front the net, and the refeeres determined the ball crossed the line to give SAU a 1-0 halftime lead.

St. Ambrose added to their lead just 11 minutes into the second half. Taylor DeSplinter played a ball to Brunson who placed her left-footed shot into the right corner for a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute. Neither team would get many opportunities until the 73rd minute. Kendall Wendt crossed the ball from the right side into the box, and Haillee Wilson was able to get on the end of it for a 3-0 SAU lead. The Bees would add one more in the 89th minute. Natalie Miller sent a ball into the box, and this time Wendt found the back of the net for the 4-0 final.

Rachel Willette made two saves in the victory, and the defense of Adriane Latham, Miller, Daniya El-Zein, and Genevieve Bowyer limited Judson to six total shots.

St. Ambrose will travel to Cardinal Stritch on Tuesday, October 18th for a 2 p.m. start.
