Bees get draw against Trolls

Playing down a player for the entire second half, St. Ambrose battled Trinity Christian to a 0-0 draw Wednesday night in Palos Heights, Ill. The Bees (4-4-3, 3-0-2 CCAC) had the upper hand in shots, managing 12 to the Trolls' (4-3-4, 3-1-2 CCAC) six attempts, but neither team could find the back of the net.

SAU got off the first three shots of the match, but Taylor DeSplinter's attempt was blocked, Grace Kuchar's attempt was saved, and Abigail Goff put her opportunity high. TCC almost took the lead in the 16th minute, but Litzy Corona's shot hit off the post. The 20th minute saw shots from DeSplinter and Genevieve Bowyer, but both were saved by the Troll keeper. Kaitlyn Brunson had the last shot attempt in the first half at the 25:05 mark but couldn't find her way around the goalie. A St. Ambrose player was shown a red card with just over a minute and a half left in the period as the teams would be knotted at zero heading into halftime.

Mary Evans had the first shot attempt in the second half, but it rolled wide. Rachel Willette kept the Trolls off the scoreboard in the 52nd minute, making a save on Litzy Corona. St. Ambrose got chances in the 60th, 67th, and 74th minutes, but the attempts from Bowyer, Jenna Horst, and Goff couldn't find the back of the net. Each team had one more chance on goal, but the game would end in a scoreless draw.

DeSplinter led all players with four shots. Bowyer, Evans, and Goff each had two. Willette was credited with two saves. Bowyer, Evans, DeSplinter, and Willette put in a 90-minute effort along with Adriane Latham, Natalie Miller, and Daniya El-Zein
