St. Ambrose plays to scoreless draw against Culver-Stockton

St. Ambrose outshot Culver-Stockton 21-9 on Wednesday night at Poulton Stadium, but the Bees couldn't find the back of the net as the teams played to a scoreless draw. The Bees are now 1-2-1 early on in the season, and the Wildcats go to 1-1-1 on the year.

SAU dominated the opening minutes, recording the first six shots of the night. Rachel Willette was called on in the 17th minute to make a save on the Wildcats to keep the score at zeros. St. Ambrose would get attempts from Abigail Goff, Kaitlyn Brunson, and Kendall Wendt before Willette was tested again. A Taylor DeSplinter header went wide in the 38th minute, Natalie Miller's attempt was saved in the 41st, and Bella Grisafi's shot went wide in the 44th minute as the teams would go into halftime tied at zero.

Willette made a save early in the second half to keep the scoreline even. From there, the Bees dominated the stat line, recording seven shots and nine corner kicks in the final half. But SAU could never find the breakthrough. The best chance came in the 90th minute after a Brunson corner kick. Margaret Hamilton put a header on frame, but it hit the post.

Nine Bees recorded shots in the game, with Brunson leading the way with seven. Wendt and Hamilton each had three. Willette finished with six saves.

St. Ambrose will turn their attention to CCAC play as they will take on Indiana South Bend on Saturday, September 10th. Game time is scheduled for Noon.
