Ten Bees score in CCAC opener

Ten different Bees scored at least one goal on Saturday afternoon as SAU (3-2, 1-0 CCAC) rolled to a 17-0 victory against Indiana South Bend (0-4, 0-1 CCAC) in Davenport for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener. The last time St. Ambrose scored 17 goals in a game was in 2013 against Grace (Neb.). 

Morgan Wahlen got the scoring started for the Bees in the 5th minute off a feed from Alyssa SchichnerErin Smothers found Wahlen a minute later to give St. Ambrose an early 2-0 lead. In the 12th minute, Wahlen found Genevieve Bowyer for a goal off of a corner kick. Natalie Miller got on the score sheet in the 29th minute after dribbling through the defense and placing her shot above the Titan keeper. Back-to-back goals from Tori Timerman in the 35th minute and 39th minute added to the SAU lead. The first Timerman goal came off a Kaitlyn Brunson assist, and the second came from a give-and-go with Grace Kuchar. Brunson gave the Bees a 7-0 halftime lead, after scoring off a free kick in the 41st minute. 

St. Ambrose continued with the goals coming out of the break with Mary Evans finding the back of the net in the 47th minute and Wahlen scoring her third of the day a few seconds later. Timerman netted a hat trick in the 52nd minute, scoring off a Wahlen corner kick to make it 10-0 St. Ambrose. Taylor DeSplinter got on the stat sheet in the 70th minute, putting one past the keeper. Riley Garcia would add to the tally in the 71st minute, slotting home a penalty kick. Just three minutes later, Garcia would add another, getting her head on the end of a Kuchar cross to make it 13-0. Smothers would find the back of the net in the 75th minute with Garcia garnering the assist. St. Ambrose would add three goals in the last ten minutes - two by Aubree Langan and one by Bowyer - to account for the final score. 

Rachel Willette and Molly McLaughlin split time in goal for St. Ambrose. The Titans did not register a shot on goal. SAU had 32 shots on goal and had 12 corner kick opportunities. 

The Bees will continue with conference play, traveling to Olivet Nazarene on September 14th at 7 p.m.
