Timerman's goal lifts SAU past Culver-Stockton

St. Ambrose women's soccer faced Culver-Stockton for their home opener on a rainy Tuesday night in Davenport. SAU (2-0) defeated CSC (1-1) 1-0 at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex. 

Tori Timerman scored the lone goal for the Bees in the 54th minute, and Molly McLaughlin and Rachel Willette combined for another shutout in goal.

The Bees had a chance to get on the board in the 1st minute from a corner kick by Morgan Wahlen, but Taylor DeSplinter's header went wide. McLaughlin was forced to make a save in the 3rd minute on a shot from CSC's Isabella Aranda. Wahlen had an opportunity to find the first goal of the game, but her header went wide in the 13th minute. DeSplinter had another chance in the 14th, but her attempt was saved by the Wildcat keeper. Neither team had many opportunities after that, and the score remained deadlocked at the break. 

Timerman got the breakthrough in the second half to give the Bees a one-goal lead. DeSplinter almost added to the lead in the 69th minute, but her shot hit off the post. Willette kept the Wildcats off the board in the 82nd minute, saving a shot from Jody Ellis.

St. Ambrose will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa Friday to take on Northern Iowa at 4 p.m.
