SAU falls to Cardinal Stritch in CCAC championship

Cardinal Stritch was just too much to handle for St. Ambrose on a rainy and windy Saturday night. The Wolves scored four goals while the Bees could only muster four shots to claim the CCAC Championship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 4-1.

SAU had the first two opportunities of the game, but Morgan Wahlen had her shot go wide, and Mia Lisanti's attempt was blocked by CSU. Cardinal Stritch would find their first score in the 8th minute of the game. After making the initial save on Marisol Kroencke, Molly McLaughlin couldn't control the ball, and Mia Bedarf scored on the rebound. McLaughlin was able to keep the deficit at one, making saves on Jacqueline Wilhelm in the 37th minute and a save on Bedarf in the 38th. Kroencke would put the Wolves up 2-0 at the half, scoring in the 40th minute.

Kroencke would strike again for CSU in the second half, scoring in the 54th minute for a 3-0 lead. The Bees would finally get on the board in the 62nd minute when Morgan Wahlen's strike from Lisa Walter got past the keeper. Kroencke would score a hat trick for the Wolves, adding the final goal in the 64th minute.

McLaughlin finished with seven saves in the loss. The Bees end their season at 9-7-1 overall and 6-4 in the CCAC.
