SAU shuts out Roosevelt in win

St. Ambrose limited the Roosevelt offense on Wednesday night in Davenport and got a 3-0 win in their regular-season home finale.

The Bees got early chances from Mary Evans and Tori Timerman but the attempts either went wide or got saved. SAU got on the board in the 10th minute with Natalie Miller finding the back of the net. The Bees continued to push for another goal, but Timerman and Mia Lisanti had their chances saved by Alyssa Darling. St. Ambrose doubled their lead in the 15th minute when Evans played a long ball to Timerman who was able to beat the Laker defense and slot the ball past the keeper. The Bees would take the 2-0 lead into halftime.

Three quick chances for SAU started the second, but attempts from Keeli Frerichs and Erin Smothers were off the mark. Margaret Hamilton would get the third goal for the Bees in the 64th minute. Her header just got over the hand of Roosevelt's keeper. Morgan Wahlen had a chance to add to the lead in the 73rd, but her attempt went wide and the game would end 3-0

The defensive play from Adriane Latham, Miller, Haley Salander, Erin Smothers, and Morgan Vercautren helped SAU to hold Roosevelt to just two shots - one in each half. SAU had 19 shots and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Molly McLaughlin was credited with two saves in the win.

The Bees will take on the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene in the regular-season finale on April 3rd in Bourbonnais, Ill. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
