Wahlen scores four in defeat of GSU

Morgan Wahlen had a career day, scoring four goals in a span of eight minutes in the first half as the St. Ambrose women's soccer team defeated Governors State Wednesday afternoon in Crown Point, Ind., 5-0.

Mia Lisanti found Wahlen in the 15th minute as she took a shot from 15 yards out that got past the GSU keeper to give SAU a 1-0 lead. Just a minute later, Natalie Miller found Wahlen for her second goal of the day. Lisa Walter was the next Bee to find Wahlen as she tallied another score in the 19th minute. Wahlen's final goal of the day was scored off a scramble in front of the net in the 23rd minute with Mary Evans credited with the assist. St. Ambrose would have a 4-0 lead at halftime as SAU outshot their opponents 20-2.

The Bees defense would continue their dominance in the second half, only allowing two shots that were saved by Molly McLaughlin. St. Ambrose would have chances to add to their lead, but a shot from Evans was saved, Lisanti's chance went wide, an opportunity from Riley Garcia was high, and one from Erin Smothers was blocked. SAU would add to their lead in the 86th minute as Alyssa Schichner got on the scoring sheet for the first time this season. Grace Kuchar was credited with the assist.

The Bees will look to continue their win streak on Sunday, March 21st in a non-conference match against Grand View at 2 p.m. in Davenport.
