Bees fall on the road to Trolls

The St. Ambrose women's soccer team traveled to Palos Heights, Ill. on Tuesday afternoon to take on conference opponent Trinity Christian College. The Bees would fall 1-0 to the Trolls moving them to 4-4 on the year and 3-3 in the CCAC.

SAU outshot the home team in the first-half 5-2 but couldn't find the back of the net. The best chance for the Bees came in the 31st minute when Riley Garcia slotted a pass to Tori Timerman who got behind the Trolls defense. Timerman was ruled to be offside. A spectacular play by Haley Salander in the 38th minute kept the teams tied at zero. Trinity Christian's Brianna Uhl looked to have a goal, but Salander hustled after the ball and cleared it before it could cross the line.

Molly McLaughlin kept the Bees in the game as the Trolls got off 13 shots in the second half. She saved a shot from Selah Hopkins in the 65th minute and one from Uhl in the 67th. Trinity would eventually find the winner in the 73rd minute as Uhl found Hopkins for the goal. St. Amborse's five shots in the half either went wide or were blocked.

McLaughlin was credited with seven saves. Timerman and Margaret Hamilton finished with two shots each for SAU.

St. Ambrose will return home on Sunday, March 14 to take on No. 9 Central Methodist University at 4 p.m.
