SAU shut out Saints in spring opener

After playing two games in the fall, the Bees returned to the field on Thursday afternoon for a conference matchup against the University of Saint Francis. St. Ambrose came away with a 4-0 win.

SAU got off to a quick start with Margaret Hamilton scoring less than five minutes into the game. Hamilton found the net again, scoring from a free kick in the 18th minute. The Bees tacked on another goal almost a minute later with Mia Lisanti finding Tori Timerman for the 3-0 lead. The Saints had a chance to get a goal back, but Litzy Mendez's penalty kick went high. Morgan Vercautren had a chance to add to St. Ambrose's lead in the 76th minute, but her shot bounced off the post. Riley Garcia followed it up for the final SAU goal of the game.

St. Ambrose had a 19-3 advantage in shots and took three corners while the Saints had none. Molly McLaughlin was credited with one save.

The Bees will face Judson University on Tuesday, Feb. 23th at 2 p.m. at TBK Sports Complex in Bettendorf, Iowa.
