Penalty kick the difference in loss to Viterbo

In a battle of unbeatens, a penalty kick against St. Ambrose proved to be the difference in a 1-0 loss to Viterbo on Saturday afternoon at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

SAU controlled the game at the start, having two shots and earning a corner kick before the penalty. A handball in the box was called nine minutes into the game, and Viterbo's Sydney King converted the chance giving the V-Hawks the lead. The best chance in the first half for the Bees came from Lisa Walter who had back-to-back shots saved in the 26th minute.

Ambrose had chances in the 2nd half to tie up the game but couldn't find the back of the net. Even after going down a player, SAU pushed for a goal with the best chance coming from Margaret Hamilton's shot that hit the crossbar in the 86th minute. The Bees got two more chances on goal before time ran out.

Molly McLaughlin was credited with three saves.
