Hoesly, Taaffe sweep Heart Player of the Week awards

Abby Taaffe and Lauren Hoesly from St. Ambrose sweep the final 2024 Heart Player of the Week honors, announced on Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season for Hoesly who won the Heart Offensive Player of the Week back on April 1. Taaffe is a first-time winner this year earning Heart Defensive Player of the Week. Both played a pivotal role in helping the Bees earn back to back runner up titles in the Heart Conference Tournaments. The Bees went 1-1 this past week in the conference tournament. SAU defeated no. 3 seeded Culver-Stockton 15-4 in the semifinal before losing to Benedictine, the eventual champions, 18-7.

Abby Taaffe, a junior defender from Sammamish, Wash earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Taaffe collected six ground balls in the conference tournament, four vs. Culver-Stockton and two vs. Benedictine. She also caused five turnovers in the week.

Lauren Hoesly, a graduate attacker from Oconomowoc, Wis. earned Offensive Player of the Week honors. This will be the second time this season she earned this prestige award. In the Heart Tournament Semifinal win vs. Culver-Stockton, Hoesly scored three goals and notched two assists. She also picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers.

St. Ambrose ends their season in the Heart Tournament Final game with an overall record of 9-3.
