Vanderwarren notched Newcomer of the Year in Heart postseason awards

Freshman, Abby Vanderwarren was named Newcomer Player of the Year, the Heart announced this afternoon. She was voted upon from other coaches within the Heart of America Athletic Conference. 

In her singular season as a Fighting Bee, she hailed seven goals in nine games. The Chicago, Ill. native has a 90% shot on goal percentage. She has also collected 13 ground balls, six draw controls, and caused eight turnovers. Vanderwarren scored four goals this season vs. Missouri Valley. 

Vanderwarren has helped the Bees find their spot in the Heart Championship game. She helped the Bees compile a 9-2 overall record which is good for a .800 win percentage. In conference, she helped lead the Bees to 4-1 overall.

Nine other Bees were tabbed with first and second team honors as well.
