St. Ambrose captures another conference win

The Easter weekend did not prove as a distraction to the Bees as they captured yet another conference victory at Mount Mercy. SAU ran away with a 22-7 feat vs. the Mustangs. This puts St. Ambrose at 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Bees struck first at the 13-minute mark in the first period with a goal by Jayden Ambrose. The Mustangs found the back of the net a minute and 40 seconds later to tie the game at one all. Then, the rest was history for Mount Mercy. SAU scored ten unanswered goals the remainder of the period to lead 11-1.

St. Ambrose and Mount Mercy would each trade three goals in the second quarter. The Three goals for the Bees coming from Abby Vanderwarren, Delaney Austad, and Anabelle Brown. SAU would extend their lead 14-4 just before half.

Just after halftime, Lauren Hoesly scored at the 14:12 mark to give the Bees the 15-4 lead. St. Ambrose would score three more times in the period to comfort their already large lead. At the end of three, the Bees led 18-6 with 15 more minutes to play.

Katie McGlynn, Raegan Dotterer, Abby Taaffe, and Cailey Kramer scored in the fourth for the Bees. Mount Mercy would score one more before the eventual final 22-7.

With Lauren Hoesly's five goal and four assist performance, she becomes the all-time points leader in St. Ambrose women's lacrosse history.

Katie McGlynn followed with three goals. While Raegan Dotterer, Jayden Ambrose, Abby Vanderwarren, Anabelle Brown, and Delaney Austad chipped in two apiece. Cailey Kramer, Sarah Diehl, Abby Taaffe, and Morgan O'Malley each had one.

Brown followed Hoesly's performance with three assists herself. Diehl collected two while Delaney Austad, Claire Jeffers, and Morgan O'Malley earned one.  

Brown earned a team high eight draw controls.

Taaffe dominated the defense with three caused turnovers.

Saige Carlton earned the victory in goal for the Bees. She collected six saves and three ground balls.

Next, the Bees host conference foe William Penn. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex in Davenport, Iowa.
