Ambrose’s five goal effort helps Bees run past Saint Mary

The Bees have been playing stout defense and finding the back of the net to run away with games this past week. Nothing would change when they hosted the Spires of University of Saint Mary Sat. afternoon at St. Vincent's Athletic Complex. SAU scored 17 unanswered goals to win 20-3 after a running clock for most of the game.

To start the game, St. Ambrose scored nine first quarter goals. Goals ranged from Anabelle Brown, Lauren Hoesly, Claire Jeffers, Jayden Ambrose, and Katie McGlynn. Brown would add two this period while Hoesly added two of her own. Jeffers and Ambrose matched that performance with two of their own. After the end of the first period, SAU had the 9-0 lead.

Before halftime, the Bees added four more goals with Sophie McPeek joining in on the action. She scored right before halftime at the 1:29 mark. This would extend the lead to 13-0 which allowed for some breathing room for the Bees.

St. Ambrose would never go away and never allow room for Saint Mary to come within in strking distance. The Bees added four more goals in the third period while continuing their strong defensive effort. The Spires would eventually tack on one goal at the end of the third period with 1:26 left in the quarter.

Leading 17-1 at the start of the fourth period, the Bees had a comfortable lead the rest of the way. SAU still found the back of the net three more times to end with a 20-3 decision.

Jayden Ambrose dominated the scoring by collecting five goals on the afternoon. Katie McGlynn, Lauren Hoesly, and Sarah Diehl added three goals each. Anabelle Brown and Claire Jeffers scored two apiece. Sophie McPeek tacked on one.
