Jeffers gives the Bees the go-ahead goal in overtime

St. Ambrose women's lacrosse beat (RV) Ottawa in an exciting overtime fashion. The Bees edge the Braves 16-15 on the road. SAU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Ottawa got on the board. SAU still leading 5-3 going into the second period, Ottawa countered back to have the 9-8 decision before halftime. The rest of the game was a match up, with both teams going goal for goal. In the third, Ottawa pulled away with a three-goal spurt before the Bees answered with four goals themselves from Lauren Hoesly, Sarah Diehl, Anabelle Brown, and Cailey Kramer. St. Ambrose was ahead at the beginning of the final period, then Ottawa answered with two goals, to take the lead in the final three minutes of play. The Bees didn't go away, they scored 15 seconds later to tie the game, forcing overtime. Claire Jeffers scored the go-ahead goal for the Bees with 1:41 left in the overtime period.

St. Ambrose had seven goal scorers to combine for 16 goals. Three Bees led the attack with three goals each, Jayden Ambrose, Anabelle Brown, and Lauren Hoesly. Cailey Kramer, Claire Jeffers, and Sarah Diehl had two apiece. With Raegan Dotterer chipping in a goal as well. Ambrose and Diehl found the scorers with two assists each. Abby Taaffe had a team high three pick-ups while causing three turnovers. Brown, Jeffers, and Diehl all gained four draw controls each for the Bees.

Saige Carlton spent all 64:19 minutes in net for the Bees earning nine saves total.

SAU will next compete at home vs. University of Wisconsin-Stout, Thurs. Mar. 14. First draw will be at 5 p.m.
