Six Bees earn Heart Conference honors

St. Ambrose had six players earn all-conference honors in the Heart of America Conference - Maddie Wiltrout, Anabelle Brown, Audrey Warner, Rea-Samone Brown, Abby Taaffe, and Maggie Samson - the league announced.

Wiltrout was the only Bee to earn first-team honors as she was named first-team midfield. The senior from Noblesville, Ind. has scored 37 goals and recorded six assists so far this season. She scored seven goals in a game twice this season, once against Clarke on March 28 and again versus Culver-Stockton on April 15. Wiltrout has collected 27 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers. She was also named to the second team as a draw control specialist. Wiltrout has 76 draw controls on the year. She was named the Heart Player of the Week after her seven-goal performance against Culver-Stockton.

Anabelle Brown was named second team attack. The sophomore from El Dorado Hills, Calif. has scored 36 goals and put up 15 assists. She has 83 draw controls, 31 ground balls, and caused nine turnovers this year. Her best offensive game came in the Heart semifinals where she scored eight goals and won 10 draws against William Penn on April 19.

Warner was also a second-team attack selection. The senior from Schaumburg, Ill. recorded 38 goals and 15 assists on the year. She also collected 26 ground balls and caused nine turnovers. Warner scored five goals in back-to-back games - against William Penn on April 5 and versus Ottawa on April 6. She was named the Heart Player of the Week after a four-game stretch in which she scored 15 goals and had seven assists.

Rea-Samone Brown, a grad student from Graham, Wash., earned second-team defense honors. Brown started all 14 games for St. Ambrose and provided a defensive prowess. She has two assists on the season - one coming in a win against Missouri Valley and the other in the Heart semifinals against William Penn. Brown collected 13 ground balls and forced four turnovers.

Taaffe, a sophomore from Sammamish, Wash., also was a second-team selection on defense. She led the Bees in caused turnovers, forcing 16 on the season. Taaffe had a season-high four caused turnovers against Ottawa on April 6. She has collected 27 ground balls, won two draws, and recorded one assist.

Samson earned second-team goalie honors in the conference. The senior from Phoenix, Ariz. started 13 games for St. Ambrose. She has recorded 105 saves and has collected 26 ground balls. Samson scored a goal on April 8 against Missouri Valley. She was named the Player of the Week in the conference after helping SAU defeat Marian and Franklin College. Samson recorded double-digit saves in five games this year.
