After falling the night before to conference leaders Benedictine, St. Ambrose got back on track Saturday afternoon against Ottawa. SAU had a strong first and third quarters to take the game, 15-11, in a matchup where both teams are receiving votes in the NAIA poll. The Bees are now 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the KCAC while the Braves are 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Audrey Warner got the scoring started for St. Ambrose and a quick 1-0 lead on a free position attempt. After a man-up goal from Ottawa to tie the game up, SAU went on a four-goal run. Avery Cummins scored back-to-back man-down goals to give the Bees a 3-1 lead with 7:21 left in the first. Anabelle Brown and Morgan Curzon found the back of the net to push the lead to four with 4:49 remaining. The Braves would get two goals from Mackenzie Simmons to make it 5-3 heading into the second.

Ottawa netted the first goal of the second quarter to cut the SAU lead to one, but goals from Warner and Maddie Wiltrout put the Bees back up by three with 8:19 to go until halftime. Ottawa's Shannon Carroll would make it a two-score game at the break.

The third quarter belonged to Sarah Diehl, who netted three goals in the period. Brown found Diehl for the first score after halftime to give St. Ambrose an 8-5 lead with 11:15 left in the frame. An Ottawa score cut the lead back to two, but Diehl scored twice in 36 seconds to make it 10-6 with 3:11 to go. Cummins netted a hat trick after scoring with only 25 seconds left, but the Braves would get a goal from Cecily Anderson at the end of the period to make it 11-7 heading into the final frame.

The teams traded goals to start the fourth with Warner and Diehl scoring for SAU and Quinn Crandall twice for the Braves. With the score at 13-9 and just over 10 minutes to play, St. Ambrose got scores from Wiltrout and Curzon to make it 15-9 with less than six minutes remaining. Crandall got another score for the Braves and Ottawa would add one more late for the final 15-11 score.

Cummins and Warner both netted hat tricks for St. Ambrose, and Brown assisted on three goals, Lauren Hoesly had two, and Curzon, Cummins, Diehl, and Warner each had one assist. Maggie Samson made eight saves in net, Curzon had a game-high five caused turnovers, while Maura Healy and Warner both caused two.
