Bees fall to No. 6 Ravens on the road

After defeating No. 10 Georgetown College on Monday, St. Ambrose was unable to put together a repeat performance against No. 6 Benedictine College Friday afternoon in a conference contest. SAU fell 23-5 against BC at Legacy Field in Atchinson, Kansas.

The home team scored 11 goals in the first quarter and kept the Bees off the scoreboard until the second frame. Delaney Austad found Morgan Curzon to give St. Ambrose their first goal of the game with 13:53 left until halftime. Benedictine would score the next six to take a 15-1 lead at the half.

Curzon scored her second of the day coming out of the break, collecting a pass again from Austad to make it 15-2 with 14:03 remaining in the third quarter. The Ravens would go on another goal-scoring run - netting the next five - to increase their lead. Audrey Warner scored a man-up goal for the Bees to make it 20-3 heading into the final frame.

Benedictine got the first goal in the fourth, followed by consecutive goals from Annabelle Brown and Warner to make it 21-5 with 7:49 to go in the game. The Ravens would net two more late in the period to account for the final.

Maggie Samson was credited with four saves in net as was Julieanna Hess. Katie Burr also saw time in net for St. Ambrose.

The Bees will look to rebound on Saturday - taking on another KCAC foe on the road in Ottawa at 1 p.m.
