St. Ambrose faces No. 4 Ravens on Senior Day

The St. Ambrose women's lacrosse team honored four seniors on Saturday afternoon - Katie Baranski, Allison Claus, McKenna Curzon, and Erin Green - before their game against Benedictine College. The No. 4 Ravens proved to be too much for the Bees as they suffered their first defeat of the year falling 16-4. BC moves to 8-1 overall and 8-0 in the KCAC while SAU is now 8-1 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Benedictine scored the first two goals of the game just :30 seconds apart forcing an early timeout from the Bees. Audrey Warner would score on a free position shot to get one back with 25:35 left in the first half. The Ravens would then rattle off six straight goals to push the lead to 7-1. SAU got back on the board with 4:36 left when Lauren Hoesly found Delaney Austad for the man-up goal. BC would get a goal from Grace Simonson with 1.4 seconds left to take an 8-2 halftime lead.

The Ravens would score the first goal of the second half to up their lead. BC then scored five goals in three minutes and 30 seconds to take a 14-2 lead with 16:07 left. Aidan McEnerney scored her fifth goal for the Ravens seven minutes later. The Bees would get on the board in the second half with just 6:58 remaining after McKenna Sears scored a free position goal. Morgan Curzon would score a man-up goal with the assist coming from senior Baranski to cut the lead to 15-4 with 4:24 left. Benedictine would tally one more goal to account for the final score.

Senior Claus made one save in goal in 13:30 minutes of action, and Maggie Samson had 10. SAU won three draw controls in each half.

St. Ambrose will travel to Marshall, Mo. on April 10 to take on Missouri Valley at noon.
