Bees battle the cold at TPC Deere Run Invitational

St. Ambrose battled a challenging course, a tough field and the weather at the TPC Deere Run Invitational played in Silvis, Ill., Monday. Cold weather forced the original 54-hole tournament to cut back to an 18-hole event as Tuesday's scheduled final round was completely canceled.

Teams from across the country competed in the tournament played at TPC Deere Run, the home course of the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic and the host course of the 2023 NAIA Women's Golf Championships in the spring.

Battling the conditions, Amara Lytle was the top Bee finisher, ending in a tie for 22nd with a 12-over 84. Katherine Speer shot a 92 to finish in a tie for 67th.

Kara Williams (99), Leah Sullivan (101) and Aleanna Mendoza (111) also competed in the final event of the fall for SAU.

St. Ambrose finished 18th in the loaded field. The Bees shot a 376.

Cumberlands (Ky.) won the event with a 324. William Penn's Olivia Lange was individual medalist, shooting a 4-over 76.
