Lytle fourth, Sanders fifth at UIU Spring Invite

Amara Lytle placed fourth and Maitlyn Sanders was a shot back in fifth as St. Ambrose took second at the Upper Iowa Spring Invitational played at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa, Sunday.

Lytle fired an 82 to finish just a shot out of third place at the event that was shortened to 18 holes after Saturday's originally scheduled first round was canceled due to the weather. It marked the freshman's first collegiate top-five finish and was her second-best round of the year.

Sanders, meanwhile, added to her already-impressive resume, shooting an 83 for her third top-five effort of the year. She has placed inside the top 10 in six of the Bees' seven events.

Katherine Speer cracked the top 10 by firing a 91. Sam Cramer shot a 96 and Kara Williams finished with a 99. Playing as an individual, Leah Sullivan shot a 100.

St. Ambrose came in second as a team behind host Upper Iowa. The Bees totaled a 352 in the four-team tournament.

UIU's Mackenzie Olsen was the individual medalist after shooting a 1-over 73.

SAU will host the Fighting Bee Invitational Saturday at Emeis Golf Course in Davenport.
