SAU finishes 10th at Deere Run Invitational

St. Ambrose battled cold and windy conditions to finish 10th at the Deere Run Invitational played at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., Monday and Tuesday. The Bees had a strong opening day, shooting a 347 to sit in seventh place, before slipping back in Round 2.

All six Bees posted better rounds Monday.

Maitlyn Sanders fired a first-round 82 and finished with an 89 to end in 26th place with a 171. Amara Lytle was right behind. Her rounds of 83 and 91 gave her a 174, good for 33rd overall.

Katherine Speer opened with an 88 before coming back with a 91 to shoot a 179. Kara Williams (94-97) shot a 191 and Sam Cramer (96-98) finished with a 194. Leah Sullivan played as an individual for the Bees.

Indiana Wesleyan, behind individual medalist Caroline Gibson's 2-over 146, won the team title with a 616. St. Ambrose came in with a 715.

SAU returns to action this weekend at the two-day Upper Iowa Invitational, held at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
