Meils fifth, Scheidecker ninth to lead SAU to runner-up finish

Becki Meils tied for fifth overall and Abi Scheidecker finished ninth to help St. Ambrose to a runner-up finish at the Mount Mercy Mustang Invitational, played at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa, Sunday.

Meils fired an 85, just two shots out of second place, to end in a three-way tie for fifth. Scheidecker carded an 89 to take ninth.

Sam Cramer gave the Bees three players in the top 10 as her 91 tied her for 10th place. Maitlyn Sanders rounded out the SAU scoring by shooting a 92.

The four Bees combined for a 357 to earn second place in the eight team event. Host Mount Mercy took the team title with a 340.

Playing as individuals, Nicole Gordus and Katherine Speer each came in with a 103 for St. Ambrose.

Mount Mercy's Casey Noble ran away with individual medalist honors. She shot a 77 to win by six strokes.

The Bees will now head to the CCAC Tournament Thursday and Friday at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood, Ill.
