Sanders takes eighth to lead Bees at ONU Intercollegiate

Maitlyn Sanders finished alone in eighth place to lead St. Ambrose to a third-place team finish at the Olivet Nazarene Tiger Intercollegiate at Elks Country Club in St. Anne, Ill.

Sanders opened with an 86 Friday afternoon before firing a final-day 83 Saturday morning. She finished with a 169, good for eighth overall.

Two other Bees finished inside the top 15 in the team's final event of the fall.

Abi Scheidecker ended in a tie for 13th with a 178. She put together rounds of 92 and 86. Becki Meils shot an 85 Saturday, 10 shots better than her opening-day 95, to finish in a tie for 15th with a 180.

The three other Bees also made second-day improvements.

Sam Cramer shot a 97-92 for a 189 and Emma Cameron carded a 107-99 for a 206.

Playing as an individual, Leah Sullivan finished with a 204 (105-99).

Thanks to the second round, St. Ambrose was able to move up a spot and finish in third with a 716 (370-346).

Illinois Wesleyan, led by individual medalist Emma Thorman's 154 (80-74), won the team title with a 642 (329-313).
